HapYak annotations work in all modern browsers. That includes IE9 and above.
If the annotations are not showing up in IE9 and above check the following.
Some applications (including Blackboard and Pearson LearningStudio) include an HTML DOCTYPE declaration that forces IE 9 and IE 10 to render that page as if they were IE7, disabling HTML5 and thus preventing HapYak from working. More information on this issue is available from Microsoft here.
You'll want to updated the DOCTYPE to be HTML5 compliant.
If you cannot update the DOCTYPE to be HTML5 compliant, we have a workaround solution. Please email support for details.
If you are in IE9, the web page with the video is likely forcing IE9 into “Quirks Document Mode”, in which our annotation code will not operate.
To test if this is the case in IE9 click Tools, F12 developer tools.
The solution is to ensure your web page sticks to “Standards Document Mode” instead. To do this, add the following element to the head tag of your HTML:
<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=edge">
This forces IE to use Standards Mode ("edge" means use the most current edition).
